ABOUT SERC
Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) of A*STAR promotes public sector research and development in the physical sciences and engineering. At SERC, we:
- Support world-class research in A*STAR institutes in a wide range of fields including communications, AI & data science, cybersecurity, modelling and simulations, materials, chemicals, microelectronics, sustainability, manufacturing technologies and metrology;
- Plan and promote research in strategic areas to create knowledge and intellectual property that will drive the development of knowledge-intensive industries;
- Cultivate and engage an extensive network of public sector and industry partners via various programmes to facilitate a seamless flow of technologies from conception to commercialisation.
We are looking for a passionate individual to join us in building Singapore's R&D capabilities in Sustainability and Energy, covering areas such as:
- Low carbon
- Built Environment
- Circular Economy
- Electrification
You will have the exciting opportunity to contribute to driving new frontiers of scientific development, providing thought leadership, and creating a Singapore ecosystem conducive for new investments and growth. You will work closely with A*STAR research units, as well as other public sector agencies, research performers, and industry players, to develop and implement R&D strategies, build cutting-edge research programmes, and bring them to deployment or commercialisation.
You should have a strong drive and impact-oriented mindset to ensure investments in R&D activities deliver good economic, sustainability and societal outcomes for Singapore. Roles include but are not limited to the following:
- Strategic planning, coordination, and collaborations in line with national R&D agenda for sustainability and energy R&D with agencies (e.g. NRF, MTI, EDB, MSE, MND), Research Institutes, Institutes of Higher Learning, and industry sectors
- Technology Foresighting and Masterplanning to optimise R&D investment portfolio and ensure alignment with national priorities
- R&D programme strategy development and design, which entails convening relevant public agencies, enterprises, and research entities (within A*STAR and from Institutes of Higher Learning) into collaboration programmes and securing necessary management support and resources for programme execution
- R&D programme execution and management, including planning for subsequent technology translation and commercialisation
- Research proposals evaluation, project reviews and management
Job Requirements
- Degree or postgraduate degree related to Engineering- or Sciences-preferred.
- At least 5 years of working experience in either business or research roles related to the above discipline.
- Able to work independently and a strong team player
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills to engage internal and external stakeholders
- Meticulous, excellent problem solving and analytical skills and able to multi-task
- Values integrity, teamwork and excellence
