Job description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure that the Hotel's policy & procedure and Marriott's guidelines are followed and implemented accordingly.
  2. Ensure that all statutory requirements and regulations pertaining to engineering practices and related codes of practices are adhered to, including compliance with employment practices.
  3. Ensure effective communication between the management and the department and provide professional, advisory, and executive support to the General Manager to assist in formulating strategic goals and plans.
  4. Establish and maintain good working relationships with local contractors who provide repair and maintenance services, especially during emergency breakdowns of the systems.
  5. Make recommendations to management and approve special capital budgets to include all changes, replacements, and upgrades of equipment as required.
  6. Manage a cost-effective operating budget to cover the costs of all maintenance and utilities within the financial parameters set by the hotel budget.
  7. Monitor, control, and track all operating expenses, analyze budget variations, and take remedial action.
  8. Develop, implement, and maintain a work order system to address routine repairs. Work order procedures must address requesting work, reporting work, recording, assignment planning, scheduling, execution, follow-up, communication/feedback of work done, and historical record keeping.
  9. Develop, implement, and maintain a preventive maintenance program on all systems, plants, public spaces, and various architectural features to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient operation of the property.
  10. Maintain up-to-date records on preventive maintenance programs pertaining to all systems, plants, and equipment.
  11. Maintain proper purchase order tracking and control procedures.
  12. Maintain a spare parts, materials, and supplies inventory control system to allow adequate lead times with minimum inventory stock levels for procurement to achieve minimum downtime and economical prices. Items must be administered and controlled and accounted for in budget control procedures.
  13. Develop, implement, and maintain an energy conservation tracking program to minimize utility expenses.
  14. Review and negotiate, where applicable, with service providers on the service contracts in our areas of responsibilities.
  15. Maintain an up-to-date record of all technical drawings, manuals, administrative files, etc.
  16. Spearhead all sustainability initiatives and programs for the Hotel.
  17. Oversee all renovation projects of the Hotel, if any.
  18. Perform other ad-hoc tasks and duties as assigned by the General Manager.
