LOGISTICS DIRECTOR
Job description
1. Strategic Planning
- Develop and implement logistics strategies that align with the company's overall goals and objectives.
- Forecast future logistics and supply chain trends to prepare the organization for growth or changes.
- Optimize the supply chain process to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
2. Supply Chain Management
- Manage end-to-end supply chain processes, including procurement, warehousing, inventory, and distribution.
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers.
- Negotiate contracts with logistics providers and oversee their performance.
3. Operations Management
- Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of goods and services.
- Monitor and improve operational KPIs such as delivery timelines, cost per shipment, and inventory levels.
- Coordinate with production and sales teams to align supply chain activities with business demands.
4. Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a logistics and supply chain team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the team.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
5. Budget Management
- Prepare and manage the logistics budget to control costs and optimize resource allocation.
- Identify areas for cost reduction while maintaining service quality.
6. Risk Management
- Develop contingency plans to handle supply chain disruptions.
- Monitor risks related to inventory shortages, transportation delays, and geopolitical factors.
7. Technology Integration
- Implement and oversee logistics and supply chain management software.
- Leverage data analytics to track performance, identify bottlenecks, and inform decision-making.
8. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations related to shipping, import/export, and transportation.
- Keep up to date with changes in regulations and adjust processes accordingly.
9. Stakeholder Communication
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to streamline operations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for logistics-related queries and issues.
10. Performance Reporting
- Generate reports to track key logistics metrics and present findings to senior management.
- Use insights from these reports to recommend and implement improvements.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of supply chain and logistics processes.
- Proficiency in logistics management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, WMS, TMS).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- A degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field (MBA preferred in some cases).
