Job description

1. Strategic Planning

  1. Develop and implement logistics strategies that align with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  2. Forecast future logistics and supply chain trends to prepare the organization for growth or changes.
  3. Optimize the supply chain process to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

2. Supply Chain Management

  1. Manage end-to-end supply chain processes, including procurement, warehousing, inventory, and distribution.
  2. Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers.
  3. Negotiate contracts with logistics providers and oversee their performance.

3. Operations Management

  1. Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of goods and services.
  2. Monitor and improve operational KPIs such as delivery timelines, cost per shipment, and inventory levels.
  3. Coordinate with production and sales teams to align supply chain activities with business demands.

4. Team Leadership

  1. Lead, mentor, and develop a logistics and supply chain team.
  2. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the team.
  3. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

5. Budget Management

  1. Prepare and manage the logistics budget to control costs and optimize resource allocation.
  2. Identify areas for cost reduction while maintaining service quality.

6. Risk Management

  1. Develop contingency plans to handle supply chain disruptions.
  2. Monitor risks related to inventory shortages, transportation delays, and geopolitical factors.

7. Technology Integration

  1. Implement and oversee logistics and supply chain management software.
  2. Leverage data analytics to track performance, identify bottlenecks, and inform decision-making.

8. Regulatory Compliance

  1. Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations related to shipping, import/export, and transportation.
  2. Keep up to date with changes in regulations and adjust processes accordingly.

9. Stakeholder Communication

  1. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to streamline operations.
  2. Act as the primary point of contact for logistics-related queries and issues.

10. Performance Reporting

  1. Generate reports to track key logistics metrics and present findings to senior management.
  2. Use insights from these reports to recommend and implement improvements.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  2. In-depth knowledge of supply chain and logistics processes.
  3. Proficiency in logistics management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, WMS, TMS).
  4. Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
  5. Analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  6. A degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field (MBA preferred in some cases).
