The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) in collaboration with the School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, invites qualified candidates to apply as Part-time Lecturer for Thinking and Communicating Visually I. The Part-time Lecturer is expected to teach an undergraduate course commencing in August 2023.
This 13-week course is an introductory course for Year 1 undergraduates. It is designed to provide a lab-based environment for students to explore and develop creative thinking methodologies through focused observational drawing.
Drawing skills and art-making processes will be acquired and viewed as a developmental process to generate, record, and communicate ideas. The course proceeds from an investigational perspective that encourages analysis of problems and personal inquiry as students develop vocabulary, technical skills, and critical awareness necessary for establishing a base for creative visual thinking. Group critiques will provide important opportunities for students to present their work and support the work of their peers.
Successful candidates will have a Masters and/or PhD in design or fine art, a record of accomplishment of exhibitions, and past teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
Preference will be given to candidates with an active artistic practice that demonstrates a combination of traditional and current approaches to fine art and drawing, as well as critical analysis across the spectrum of the medium, from traditional to contemporary drawing practice.
