Head of Legal - Wealth Management/ High Net Worth

We are currently looking for a Head of Legal for a reputable financial services firm. You will lead the legal team by supporting their Singapore's high-net-worth (HNW) business. You will have a matrix reporting line as this role executive-level legal guidance and oversight to ensure compliance, risk mitigation, and business growth. The position will involve advising senior management on legal, regulatory, and governance matters related to HNW products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead legal strategy for product development, marketing, and management.
• Draft and negotiate distribution contracts and business partnerships.
• Provide legal support on underwriting, claims, client complaints, and other operational matters.
• Collaborate with compliance on anti-money laundering, sanctions, and privacy programs.
• Advise on regulatory affairs, examinations, and new laws.
• Review and negotiate vendor contracts, reinsurance agreements, and employment arrangements.
• Work with legal teams across jurisdictions to align strategies and support business objectives.
• Provide strategic counsel on corporate governance, litigation, and business reporting.

Qualifications:

• 10-15 years of legal experience in HNW life insurance or private banking, wealth planning, wealth management or related financial services.
• Bachelor of Laws, Juris Doctor, or equivalent; advanced degree/certifications preferred.
• Accredited to practice law in Singapore.
• Proven leadership with strong credibility as a strategic advisor.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience influencing senior stakeholders.
• Strong business acumen and ability to align legal strategies with business goals.
• Self-starter with strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives.
• Ability to anticipate legal and regulatory trends and their impact on business.
• Willingness to work flexible hours to collaborate with global teams.
