Design Director, Mechanical

Role Overview: The Design Director, Mechanical (APAC) will lead the mechanical design and development of data center projects across the Asia-Pacific region. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in mechanical engineering and data center design, capable of delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that meet the highest standards of reliability, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the mechanical design and development of data center projects from concept to completion, ensuring all designs meet project requirements and industry standards.
• Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, managing budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
• Develop and maintain design briefs, key metrics, and standards to ensure consistency and quality across all projects.
• Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to understand project requirements and deliver innovative mechanical design solutions.
• Conduct technical evaluations, review equipment specifications, and ensure designs are well-coordinated with other disciplines.
• Ensure all mechanical designs are maintainable, code-compliant, and optimized for local climate conditions and sustainability.
• Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve design processes and outcomes.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical design for data centers, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience in managing large-scale data center projects across multiple regions.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, cooling methods, and energy efficiency practices.
• Proficiency in design and drafting software such as AutoCAD and Revit.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and innovatively.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements in Singapore and the APAC region.
• LEED or similar sustainability certification is preferred.
• Willingness to travel as required by project needs.
