Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is a pan-university research institute that focuses on systems-level research for tropical megacities. It performs translational research that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialisation and deployment. ERI@N has multiple Interdisciplinary Research Programmes which focus on translational Research, Development & Deployment which focus on specific area of the energy value chain, and a number of Living labs and Testbeds which facilitate large scale technology deployment enabling validation and demonstration of real-world applications.

Seeking to hire a strategic researcher with extensive experience and background in materials synthesis, battery fabrication, and recycling of batteries. The focus of the project is battery materials synthesis, fabrication, recycling and project management.

• Synthesis and characterization of advanced battery materials and fabrication.
• Scoping studies on next generation batteries, recycling of lithium-ion batteries and circular economy potential in Singapore.
• Experimental techniques for upcycling materials.
• Synthesis and characterization of battery materials and fabrication. Precipitation, characterization and purity analysis of products by various characterization techniques.
• Carry out optimization of the equipment and SOP of various processes for batteries.
• Prototyping activities including proof of concept demonstration of successful processes.
• Responsible for project goals, deliverables, and objectives of the company project.
• Preparing and delivering meeting presentations, notes, updates, and reports as per the request of the project.

• Possess at least a Doctoral degree in Materials Science/Engineering or related disciplines.
• Experience in working on battery systems, fuel cell systems, Recycling or equivalent.
• Synthesis of new cathode and anode materials for batteries.
• Wide knowledge of different synthesis methodologies for various materials.
• Expertise in materials characterization techniques including ICP-OES, XRD, SEM, TEM, spectroscopic techniques.
• Knowledge of electrochemical studies, including such as electrodialysis, electrodeposition, galvanostatic, potentiostatic, impedance techniques.
• An effective team player with good communication & interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a team as well as independently without supervision.
• Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Good communication and writing in English for research purposes.
• Strong responsibility for research/work.
