The Optometrist performs eye health examinations by using ophthalmic diagnostic & investigation equipment to diagnose conditions and provides care management for patients undergoing eye surgery.
Responsibilities:
- Performs refraction & basic eye screening with ophthalmic diagnostic & investigation equipment.
- Evaluates results of examination through analysis, synthesis of clinical reasoning & tests.
- Identifies & facilitates patients with actual or potential visual impairments and limitations to in-house Ophthalmologist.
- Provides pre & post-operative care to patients undergoing eye surgery, as well as financial counselling.
- Assists Doctor during patient consultation.
- Demonstrates competency in administrative tasks like registration, dispensing of drugs, appointment fixing, mediclaim submission, etc.
- Maintains expertise in the operation, care, and maintenance of all equipment and supplies that are available and ready for use.
- Maintains and highlights to the Center Manager any feedback and issues on ophthalmic equipment.
- Prepares and verifies that equipment is functioning for use in an organized and logical manner for procedures.
- At all times, ensures that both the consultation room and equipment are maintained in a permanent state of readiness.
- Maintains and updates the quality records according to the standard guidelines on identification, filing, storage, maintenance, and disposition of these records where applicable.
- Handles all patients’ enquiries and performs any other administrative-related job scope.
Requirements:
- Diploma / Degree in Optometry, with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Registered with Singapore Optometrists & Opticians Board (OOB).
- Demonstrates a pro-active role in anticipating customer needs and delivering satisfaction.
- Dependability to stick to deadlines and to complete role requirements.
- Ability to work effectively with others in the team and organization to accomplish team and organization goals and to identify and resolve problems.
- Service-oriented and possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willing and able to work clinic hours across a 5.5-day work week.
