Within the IT & Operations division, the department Digital Excellence Center (DEC) in Singapore is strong of 150 staff. Our center of excellence has established a recognized expertise in process digitalization and data analytics while our expertise in artificial intelligence is growing.

In a challenging and multicultural environment, we seek a motivated and skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our Data Analytics team. The Data Analytics team is responsible for a portfolio of solutions for various business lines of the bank (Risk, Finance, Compliance, Trade Finance, etc). The team delivers solutions primarily based on the Microsoft Business Intelligence stack with a focus on performance and reliability. We are evolving and adopting new data technology as per the bank's data strategy.

Responsibilities

You report to the Data Analytics team head of DEC. The role of Data Engineer encompasses:

  • Develop and implement techniques and analytics applications to transform raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software.
  • Apply data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Visualize, interpret, and report data findings and may create dynamic data reports as well.
  • Maintain existing BI solutions / ETL pipelines and propose continuous improvements.
  • Communicate and collaborate with architects, stakeholders, business analysts, and project managers to gather requirements and define technical solutions.
  • Ability to design appropriate solutions in compliance with CACIB standards.
  • Develop detailed technical work plans, estimates, improvement plans, and status reports.
  • Perform regular peer-reviews, maintain low technical debts, and assess & up-skill junior staff.
  • Ensure the respect of CACIB code of conduct and compliance rules within the team.
  • Contribute to initiatives managed at the department level (continuous improvement, innovation…).

Required skills

This position requires a candidate with:

  • At least a bachelor degree in computer studies.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a Data Engineering role within the financing industry, ideally in a banking environment.
  • At least 5 years of development experience using the Microsoft Business Intelligence stack covering:
    • Tabular Analysis Service
    • Data warehousing
    • Performance tuning
    • Data transformations and quality checks
    • Power BI dashboarding and reporting
  • Good exposure and usage experience in CI/CD tools/processes, preferably Azure DevOps.
  • Ability to design and present technical solutions to architects and to the team.
  • Proactive and problem-solving attitude with the ability to anticipate risks.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills.

Technical skills required

Preferred (additional skills preferred, but not mandatory):

  • Exposure to data science technologies or other competitive data processing tools like Python, Spark, etc.
  • Experience in test-driven development.
  • Experience with Data Visualization tools.
