Participate in a dynamic energy (Upstream and Renewables) underwriting environment in Singapore and contribute to the team delivering on its business plan.

Main duties

  • Underwrite new and renewal risks primarily in upstream energy in accordance with the syndicate and Divisional Strategy, Business Plan, and underwriting authority. Secondary class of business Renewable Energy (construction and operation of on/off shore solar and wind, BESS, operation of geothermal, hydro power plants, biomass/biogas plants).
  • Perform risk, slip, wording and rating analysis, undertake premium monitoring.
  • Perform pml and aggregation analyses in conjunction with the exposure management team.
  • Monitor risks written and due for renewal.
  • Prepare reports and statistical information as required by the underwriters.
  • Assist with the developments and enhancements of underwriting systems where applicable, e.g.: new and/or enhanced benchmarking models, etc.
  • Liaise with brokers and develop good working relationships with broking and support teams.
  • Liaise with other business areas within Chaucer as required including credit control, claims, internal risk review, actuarial etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of files for peer review & liaise with peer reviewer as and when required.
  • Use market, industrial and other sources to enhance awareness of technical factors and developments relevant to portfolio underwriting and the oil & gas, and renewable energy industry generally.
  • Attend market risk presentations and market body meetings as and when required.
  • Business travel as and when necessary.
  • Strive to achieve personal objectives as set out by the class underwriter.

Regulatory responsibilities

Comply with all policies and procedures and ensure that due regard is paid to providing good customer outcomes and the fair treatment of customers.

Manage the relationships with Customers, Agents and Service Providers:

  • Advise, assist and service customers on insurance and risk matters to promote customers’ satisfaction.
  • Foster positive relationships with Customers and attain an understanding of their needs.
  • Ensure that Customer Complaints are promptly identified, recorded and referred as appropriate.
  • Complete all required annual product review assessments to agreed timescales with approvals obtained and recorded.
  • Follow all Chaucer Group Product Governance processes in the UCM and obtain appropriate approvals.
  • Ensure that the principles of providing good customer outcomes and the fair treatment of customers are upheld by Agents and Service Providers.

Skills and Competencies

  • Relevant Underwriting experience.
  • Knowledge of the Lloyd’s & / or Company Market.
  • Knowledge of Oil & Gas Industry practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Offshore Energy insurance practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Renewable Energy both construction and operation insurances.
  • Civil/Mechanical Engineer training; Maritime Experience.
  • Upstream Energy or Marine Hull experiences Preferred.

Education

  • 3 A Levels (A-C).
  • Dip CII or equivalent and working towards ACII.
  • Degree.
