This role is responsible for running the operations of the SAM caf and shop, ensuring smooth service, food and beverage preparation, and retail transactions. The caf is a small but dynamic 50 sqm space offering light refreshments and exclusive SAM merchandise.
The ideal candidate is friendly, detail-oriented, and adaptable, capable of managing both caf and retail responsibilities efficiently.
Caf Operations
Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages and other drinks.
Prepare and serve light snacks using a warming kitchen setup (no heavy cooking involved).
Maintain food hygiene and safety standards, ensuring cleanliness and compliance with regulations.
Wash and clean dishes, utensils, and equipment as part of regular maintenance.
Manage caf supplies and inventory, ensuring timely replenishment of ingredients and products.
Retail & Customer Service
Operate the Point-of-Sale (POS) system for both caf sales and SAM merchandise transactions.
Maintain an organised and visually appealing retail display for merchandise.
Provide warm and engaging customer service, assisting visitors with purchases and inquiries.
Assist in basic stocktaking and inventory management for merchandise.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Ensure the caf and shop remain clean, presentable, and welcoming for visitors.
Perform daily cleaning tasks, including dishwashing, wiping down surfaces, and organising stock.
Qualifications
Previous experience in F&B service, retail, or a similar role is preferred.
Barista training or experience in coffee-making is necessary.
Able to prepare simple caf dishes.
Comfortable with both caf service duties and retail POS operations.
Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional approach.
Ability to work independently and manage daily operations efficiently.
Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety regulations.
Ability to stand for extended periods
All caf staff must attend and pass a Basic Food Hygiene Course (BFHC), as required by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).
