Technical Engineer - ISO / IEC 17025 #Geotechnical #ConstructionMaterialTesting

Location: Sungei Kadut Loop (will move to 4 Tuas Loop soon)

Working Hours: 8.30am to 6pm Mondays to Fridays

Strong understanding in ISO17025 and TIC industry

Job Duties:

  • Training Program Development: Design and implement standardised training programs for laboratory staff across all required locations, covering equipment operation, test procedures, and safety protocols. Develop training materials, including manuals, presentations, and hands-on demonstrations.
  • Staff Competency Assessment: Assess staff competency regularly through practical evaluations, written tests, and observation of lab practices. Identify skill gaps and recommend tailored training sessions to address deficiencies.
  • Standardisation Across Locations: Ensure consistent training and skill levels across all laboratories by implementing standardised processes and protocols. Conduct audits to verify adherence to training standards and laboratory procedures.
  • Onboarding and Certification: Train and certify new employees in laboratory operations, testing standards, and quality requirements. Maintain records of staff certifications and ensure timely renewals.
  • Technical Support and Guidance: Act as a resource for troubleshooting technical issues during testing procedures. Provide ongoing support to ensure proper equipment usage and methodology adherence.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all training programs comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025) and regulatory requirements. Stay updated on changes in industry regulations and incorporate them into training content.
  • Multi-location Coordination: Schedule and conduct training sessions at multiple sites, ensuring all teams receive consistent updates and refreshers. Coordinate with laboratory managers to align training priorities with operational needs.
  • Training Evaluation and Feedback: Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, performance reviews, and testing outcomes. Continuously improve training content and delivery methods based on feedback and evolving laboratory practices.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of training activities, participant progress, and competency assessments. Report training outcomes and compliance metrics to management regularly.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Quality team and Operations teams to ensure training aligns with organisational goals. Share knowledge of best practices across sites to drive continuous improvement.
  • Promoting Safety and Quality Culture: Train staff on workplace safety practices, hazard identification, and emergency response procedures. Reinforce the importance of quality control and accurate testing in daily operations.
  • Equipment and Technology Training: Provide training on the use, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Introduce staff to new technologies or testing methods as they are adopted.
  • Benchmarking and Continuous Improvement: Monitor industry trends and benchmarks to incorporate innovative practices into training programs. Encourage staff participation in external workshops, certifications, and seminars to enhance their expertise.
  • Performance Metrics Development: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of training programs on laboratory efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.

Job Requirements:

  • Preferred Civil Engineering Diploma or Bachelor of Civil Engineering Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification) with ideally 5 years’ experience in construction materials testing.
  • Experience of working in an ISO / IEC 17025 environment is a prerequisite.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize activities.
  • Experience in participating in quality investigations, undertaking root cause analysis, developing corrective action plans, and ensuring the effectiveness of actions undertaken.
  • Requirement to keep up to date with changes in the quality landscape and maintain personal professional development.
  • Ability to identify quality and technical problems and work with colleagues to determine effective and sustainable solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and work effectively as part of a team.
