Your role
Interfood is looking for a Commodity Derivatives Trader to join the commercial team in Singapore. In this role, you will be responsible for local derivatives trading by identifying and executing trades, helping our physical traders in taking positions, and developing OTC style business with our clients and suppliers in the dairy supply chain. In addition, you will generate new trading ideas for our global proprietary trading book and are keen to utilize data to develop (spread trading) algorithms or run an option book. A solid understanding of the risk associated with derivatives trading is also important.
As our new Commodity Derivatives Trader you:
- Are responsible for part of the local (dairy) derivatives book for Interfood, including but not limited to options, swaps, and other financial products used to manage hedges, arbitrage, and positions.
- Contribute to the global proprietary spread trading P&L by initiating new arbitrage trades or deploying other financial trading strategies.
- Have daily contact with brokers and market stakeholders to execute financial trades (futures, options, forwards).
- Maintain a strong link with the commercial traders and position holders and support them in managing (physical) price risk and positions.
- Collaborate with physical traders to identify opportunities and deliver value-added solutions to mitigate dairy price exposure for our clients and suppliers.
- Grow into the role of conducting regular on-site meetings with prospects and clients by recommending risk management strategies.
- Develop OTC deal-type structures that provide tailor-made hedging solutions on top of existing physical deal flow.
- Co-develop marketing material that explains the value of risk management solutions to potential clients and suppliers.
- Regularly track and report on the performance of our trading strategies.
Your profile
- Master's degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
- Interest in financial markets and/or commodities trading.
- Experience with programming languages.
- Experience with execution on electronic trading platforms.
- The inclination to seek and analyze data from a variety of sources to support decisions and align others with the overall strategy.
- Strong analytical skills, logical reasoning, and a high level of conceptual and strategic thinking.
- A high level of conceptual and strategic thinking, with strong negotiation skills.
- Self-reflective and motivated to continuously develop skills and perspectives.
- Excellent command of English and a second language is preferred.
