Senior Medical Technologist (Blood banking) - Many locations available! #HDT

Responsibilities:

• Perform a variety of test procedures according to the standards set in the Laboratory, depending on the section posted.
• Routine sample processing such as spinning and aliquoting of patient samples.
• Conduct routine qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses on blood, CSF (cerebrospinal fluid), urine, and other body fluids.
• Perform routine haematology procedures.
• Execute routine bacteriological procedures, including cultures, isolation and identification techniques, and antibiotic sensitivity testing.
• Carry out routine Blood Banking procedures.
• Implement routine immunology and serology procedures.
• Conduct routine microscopy procedures.
• Register patient samples, handle telephone inquiries by clients, and print and fax patient results.
• Follow Laboratory policy for registration, billing, identification, processing, reporting, result retrieval, and record/specimen keeping.
• Comply with and maintain all applicable safety regulations in the Laboratory.
• Maintain proper inventory levels of all Clinical Laboratory consumables and reagents, and inform senior staff if supply is low.
• Check the performance of all instruments and equipment in the Laboratory and report any malfunctioning equipment.
• Comply with all regulatory guidelines, participate in CAP proficiency testing programs, and engage in hospital quality assurance programs.
• Participate in a routine maintenance program for instruments and in ongoing continuing education and professional development programs.

Requirements:

• Recognised Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent.
• Recognised Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology or Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Clinical Laboratory.
