Instrument Technician ( Queenstown / 3 Shifts / up to $2200 )

Responsibilities:

1. Prepare patients and set up the room and equipment, supplies according to the procedure requirement
2. Maintain safe environment through proper use of equipment and adherence to infection control practices
3. Check consent for correct patient, correct type of procedure and site
4. Fetch pre-operative patient to operating/ procedure room
5. Assist in safe transfer and positioning of patient
6. Assist in documentation of patient care record
7. Establish and maintain sterile field set up
8. Participate in surgical timeout procedure
9. Anticipate the needs of the surgeons/ proceduralists by passing instrument and supplies to surgeon/ proceduralists
10. Assist in collection, labeling and handling of specimens
11. Maintain and protect integrity of sterile instruments and scope for patient use
12. Assist to apply dressing and secure drain
13. Perform cleaning of surgical instrument and disinfect trolley after surgery
14. Assist in safe transfer of patient to recovery area and perform patient handover
15. Clean and re-stock operating room

Requirements:

1. Minimum GCE 'N' / 'O' levels / ITE certificate in Engineering discipline
2. WSG Higher certificate in healthcare Support (Specialization OT Support) will be advantageous.
