Software Engineer

Seeking Software Engineer (Contract)

The Developer is responsible for developing software based on design requirements and ensuring software and subroutines are working to specification. Program codes must conform to standards and be delivered with quality, meeting schedule and requirements.

Project Delivery

1. Analyse process/program specifications and translate specifications to program codes, conforming to program guidelines and programming best practices.
2. Make changes to configurable items, including hardware, software, documentation, etc. This covers configuration management planning, configuration identification, configuration controls, and audits.
3. Develop unit test packages, execute tests, and document test results to ensure the quality of the program.
4. Assist in integration testing, system testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and implementation activities to fix reported problems/bugs, ensuring smooth execution of programs in the production environment.
5. Investigate all reported problems/errors and initiate amendments and testing to ensure the system operates correctly and efficiently.
6. Prepare and maintain up-to-date system documentation.
7. Analyse functional requirements to translate into application design using established design methodologies and guidelines.
8. Ensure codes comply with security guidelines.

Team Work

1. Work with the team lead to ensure design and program codes conform to architecture and design standards, and that design satisfies functional and system requirements.
2. Participate in requirements gathering; work with Business Analysts in reviewing and refining functional specifications.
3. Participate in peer reviews to improve project quality.

Requirements

• Possess a recognised Degree in IT.
• Experience with Java J2EE applications and application support.
• Experience in programming languages such as JAVA/J2EE.
• Experience with Unix commands and SQL queries.
• Knowledge of web applications, batch jobs, JBOSS, MariaDB, SQL, and Shell.
• Knowledge of Job scheduling, MQ setup, and C:D setup experience is a plus.
• 1 Year contract.
