Senior Marine HR Training Manager
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Marine HR Training Manager for an established & international shipowner company that is based in Singapore. The Senior Marine HR Training Manager will oversee the comprehensive training and development of all ship crew, ensuring training programs meet the highest standards of excellence and compliance.
The ideal candidate would have at least 8-10 years of progressive experience in maritime training and development, with at least 5 years in a managerial role, along with a proven track record in designing and implementing effective training programs within the maritime industry.
Responsibilities
Crew Training Management
- Develop and implement comprehensive training programs tailored to the needs of Ship Crew.
- Ensure all ship crew meet the training matrix that follows international maritime regulations and industry best practices.
- Control, forecast, and budget crew training accounts.
- Source and qualify local and regional training partners.
- Develop crew training concepts in cooperation with the Marine HR team.
- Conduct presentations on Crew Induction, Corporate Values, Crew Training, and Manning Agencies Training Seminars/Workshops/Conferences.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through rigorous performance metrics and feedback mechanisms.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement among seafarers and training staff.
- Handle other ad-hoc projects related to crew and manning partner training.
Fleet Management Collaboration
- Align training initiatives with operational requirements and performance standards of the fleet.
- Facilitate the transfer of knowledge and skills across technical and operational domains within the fleet management division.
- Work closely with the Marine HR team to organise relevant technical Sea Crew training and trainings for officers’ conferences.
Safety and Audit Collaboration
- Work closely with the Safety and Audit Department to develop targeted training programs addressing gaps identified through audits.
- Implement corrective actions and training interventions to mitigate risks and enhance operational safety.
Partnership Management & Industry Engagement
- Collaborate with maritime academies and specialized training providers to ensure access to high-quality training resources and certifications.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with classification societies to ensure compliance with requirements and standards.
- Engage with engine makers and bridge equipment manufacturers to integrate manufacturer-specific training modules into the training framework.
- Represent the company in industry forums, conferences, and committees related to maritime training and development.
Continuous Improvement
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of training programs.
- Regularly review and update training curricula to reflect emerging trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes.
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Education
- Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in maritime training and development, with at least 5 years in a managerial or senior leadership role.
- Proven track record in designing and implementing effective training programs within the maritime industry.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to seafarers' training.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
- Experience working with training institutions, classification societies, engine makers, and bridge equipment manufacturers.
