Commercial / Asset Management Senior Executive (Maritime Industry, Opex, Financial Budget, Insurance, Vessel)
Job Purpose
• Support the Manager in managing a fleet of LNG carriers.
• Ensure effective communication and co-ordination with Charterer, Owners, and Ship Technical Managers.
• Ensure safe and reliable transportation of LNG and maximize Owner profits.
• Support LNG and Offshore division in managing customer relationships and enhancing overall commercial value.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Owner representative for a fleet of LNG carriers on long-term charter.
• Administer Project Budgets with the Ship Managers.
• Manage Internal Approval process and interact/liaise with Technical and Commercial Teams overseas.
• Provide Asset Management input in response to Tenders and Presentation Materials and follow-up activities.
• Develop relationships with existing and potential clients and other related organizations.
• Provide Operational Input for Contractual compliance matters.
• Ensure effective governance and compliance of all commercial and ship management contracts, including Time Charterparties and Ship Management Agreements.
• Support Finance Team of the project (Appointed Corporate Service Provider).
• Manage and resolve commercial disputes and ensure Owner interests are protected, including liaising with Charterers and reviewing off-hire reconciliation statements.
• Review and negotiate time charterparty performance claims and report to manager/owner before settlement.
• Keep all stakeholders fully updated on progress and close out.
• Ensure vigorous control and review of ship technical manager actual spend vs budget.
• Review expenditure requests (AFE) over approved budget and obtain manager sign-off.
• Prepare quarterly/year-end OPEX reports with variance analysis for manager review and sign-off.
• Review annual OPEX and dry dock budgets - seek necessary approvals.
• Ensure effective communications with all stakeholders.
• Ensure Company (HQ) reports are submitted as per the agreed deadlines.
• Liaise closely with Finance Team and prepare Budget documents and analysis for approvals.
• Liaise closely with Finance Team to prepare and submit long-term P&L projections.
• Handle ad-hoc requests/clarifications from Company HQ (Shareholders/Owners).
• Support insurance manager and minimize impact to P&L.
• Support insurance manager to ensure rightful claims are raised and recovered.
• Liaise with Finance team to ensure appropriate provisions are allocated to financial statements.
• Update Company (HQ), Senior Leadership, Directors, and Shareholders with manager supervision and guidance on the Insurance/claims/Settlement matters.
• Prepare and organize Monthly KPI scorecards to be sent to Charterers/Owners.
• Review monthly OPEX reports and variance analysis submitted by Ship technical managers.
• Submit quarterly business reports to the Board of Directors and Shareholders.
• Prepare/organize director and shareholder meeting materials.
Job Requirement
Qualifications:
• Degree in maritime and/or business.
Knowledge and Experience:
• A good working knowledge of shipping commercial operations.
• Familiarity with time charter/shipbuilding contractual terms and associated commercial agreements.
• Ability to read basic financial statements.
• Good cultural awareness with the ability to engage with various stakeholders worldwide.
• Good understanding of LNG market gained at another owner and/or energy company.
• Ex-Mariner with LNG/Gas/Tanker experience.
• Claims handling (Insurance, charter-party disputes, etc.).
• Basic financial knowledge.
Skills & Competencies:
• Excellent communication skills.
• Well organized and able to manage multiple tasks/projects independently.
• Commercially astute with a sharp eye for detail.
• Numerically astute and comfortable reporting large numbers to management (USD$ millions).
• Capable of reporting complex commercial matters succinctly and providing resolutions to the manager.
• Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
• Stakeholder engagement.
• Strong data analytical skills.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
