General Cashier & Paymaster - InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay

Under the direct supervision of the Accountant, and within the limits of InterContinental Hotels Group policies and procedures, responsible for processing of supplier invoices, reconciling of suppliers’ statement of account plus recording and processing payment of goods and services.

Job Overview

Responsible for the timely preparation of the daily banking of cash, preparing the General Cashiers Summary and processing petty cash. Responsible for maintaining records and documents related to any payroll activities and provides prompt and accurate payment of staff.

  1. Daily banking involving the collection of banking envelopes from safes, and the opening, counting and balancing as a whole.
  2. Process petty cash as required and reconciled daily/weekly. Prepare weekly petty cash summary for reimbursement to float.
  3. Prepare over and under, balance monthly and present to Manager of Finance & Business Support.
  4. Issue and return house bank contracts as required and prepare house bank accounts summary on a monthly basis.
  5. Monitor hotel exchange rate and adjust as necessary in accordance with Finance Policy.
  6. Develops and maintains current payroll processing procedures.
  7. Performs payroll processing and month end closing of payroll.
  8. Ensure overtime claims are supported by proper approval and authorization.
  9. Prepares input for payroll run including hours worked, terminations, adjustments, annual, sick and recreation leave.
  10. Prepares manual payment for termination.
  11. Verify the leave entitlement for all leave requests prior to approval.
  12. Train back up payroll officer in all manpower procedures and responsibilities.
  13. Prepares monthly/yearly internal manpower analysis report.
  14. Reconciles automatic payroll deductions such as housing loan, superannuation payments, city ledger, etc.
  15. Supervises filing of payroll reports.
  16. Journalizes payroll summary each month.
  17. Examines year-to-date tax calculations.
  18. Examines tax returns of the year.
  19. Reconciles employee shop (where applicable) and prepares journals of all transactions.
  20. Prepares income tax payment to Tax office.
  21. Prepares provident fund and other related payments to CPF Board.
  22. Prepares all other payments and submission to local authority on the specific timing.

People

  1. Cooperates, coordinates and communicates with other departments in matters concerning accounting related matters and internal control.
  2. Liaise with Department Heads & Income Auditor about cashiering problems.
  3. Attend to employee enquiries in relation to pay issues.
  4. Interacts, as required, with individuals outside the hotel including hotel’s bank, tax auditors and other hotels and IHG corporate offices.

  2. Take action to address these needs in order to exceed their expectations.

  2. Be aware of duty of care and adhere to occupational, health and safety legislation, policies and procedures.
  3. Be familiar with property safety, first aid and fire and emergency procedures and operate equipment safely and sensibly.
  4. Initiate action to correct a hazardous situation and notify supervisors of potential dangers.
  5. Log security incidents and accidents in accordance with hotel requirements.
