The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) is dedicated to promoting kidney health and providing quality, highly subsidised dialysis treatment and holistic care to patients. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager, Finance to join the Finance & Risk team. Reporting to the HOD of Finance & Risk Management, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Foundation’s delivery of healthcare service by leading and managing the Finance Operations, accounting and financial reporting functions. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of financial processes and controls, to provide financial insights that align with the Foundation’s strategic objectives, enhancing financial performance and supporting decision making at the highest level. Your responsibilities are as follows:

1. Leadership of Finance Operations & Accounting management

  1. Oversee all aspects of finance operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory management, and fixed assets.
  2. Lead the team to ensure that financial transactions are processed accurately and efficiently, complying with internal controls and policies.
  3. Streamline and optimize financial operations and upstream processes.

2. Financial Reporting & Closing

  1. Prepare timely and accurate financial statements for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end.
  2. Provide Senior Management with comprehensive financial reports, offering detailed analysis, indicators and actionable insights that support decision-making.
  3. Oversight to the Foundation’s budgetary and forecasts to ensure the robustness of the projections with what-if analysis.

3. Financial Controls, Risk Management & Process Improvement

  1. Implement improvements to internal controls, accounting processes, and reporting systems to safeguard the integrity of financial operations.
  2. Evaluate, refine and enhance financial controls, systems, and procedures to mitigate financial risks and emerging challenges.

4. Statutory Compliance & Financial Stewardship

  1. Act as the primary liaison with external auditors to ensure the timely completion of statutory audits, annual certifications, and compliance submissions.
  2. Stay abreast of changes in tax laws, accounting standards, and regulations, ensuring that the Foundation meets all statutory obligations and maintains the highest standards of financial integrity and stewardship.

5. System Development and Team Leadership

  1. Act as a subject matter expert in interpreting and applying financial policies, providing guidance on complex financial transactions.
  2. Advise leadership and departments on financial decisions, ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  3. Contribute to cross-functional corporate projects and support the implementation of financial initiatives across the organization.

6. Stakeholder Engagement & Financial Stewardship

  1. Provide leadership to the finance team in both operations and systems.
  2. Lead the secretariat function of Finance Committee and any other Committee as needed to uphold the governance structure of the Foundation.
  3. Supervise, mentor, and develop finance professionals by setting clear objectives, offering continuous feedback, and providing ongoing training.
  4. Encourage cross-functional collaboration, enhancing both team productivity and employee engagement.

Qualifications

  1. Degree in accountancy, Finance or related business discipline.
  2. Professional qualification in CPA, ACCA or equivalent preferred.

Experience

  1. Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles with at least 3 to 4 years in a managerial capacity.
  2. Significant experience in leading or overseeing statutory audits, compliance reporting and working with both external and internal auditors.
  3. Prior experience in non-profit organisations, grant management and financial system implementation preferred.

  1. Ability to prepare detailed and accurate financial statements, forecasts, and budgets, ensuring timely reporting.
  2. Excellent knowledge of Singapore Accounting Standards, Companies & Tax law and other relevant regulations.

Leadership and Team Management:

  1. Strong leadership abilities with a focus on coaching, mentoring and developing teams. Fostering employee engagement and skilled in managing teams through change and uncertainty.

Technology & System Expertise:

  1. Proficiency in financial data management systems and advanced tools such as Oracle, SAP, Power BI, and MS Office Suite.
  2. Ensuring seamless integration of new systems with existing financial processes to streamline operations.
