Job description

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Construction Manager with a strong background in civil engineering to oversee and manage our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a diploma or degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and a minimum of 5 years of related working experience. The Construction Manager will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Management:
    Develop and implement project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
    Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
    Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure successful completion.
  • Team Leadership:
    Lead and manage on-site construction teams, including subcontractors and laborers.
    Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
    Conduct regular team meetings to review project status and address any issues.
  • Quality Control:
    Ensure that all construction activities comply with relevant codes, regulations, and standards.
    Conduct regular site inspections to monitor quality and safety.
    Address any quality or safety concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Budget Management:
    Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
    Monitor expenses and report any variances to senior management.
    Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best prices and terms.
  • Communication and Reporting:
    Maintain regular communication with clients, stakeholders, and senior management.
    Prepare and submit progress reports, including financial updates and project milestones.
    Address any client concerns and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Risk Management:
    Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    Ensure that all safety protocols are followed and that the construction site is a safe working environment.
    Handle any emergencies or unexpected issues that arise during the project.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management, preferably in civil engineering projects.
    Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects.
  • Skills:
    Strong leadership and team management skills.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    Proficient in project management software and tools.
    In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
    Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
    OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) certification.

Working Conditions:

  • This role requires working on construction sites, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and physical demands.
  • Regular travel to project sites may be required.
