Job Description
The Assistant Quality Manager supports the Quality Manager in overseeing the quality assurance function, ensuring that production quality meets customer requirements and industry standards. This role is responsible for leading claim investigations, guiding the quality engineering team, ensuring ISO compliance, and driving continuous improvement. The Assistant Quality Manager also plays a key role in customer witness tests, production line quality assurance, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance overall product reliability and customer satisfaction.
Job Requirement
Education level and/or relevant experience(s)
•5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, or Production Quality Management in a manufacturing environment.
•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent technical discipline).
•Prior experience in diesel generator sets, heavy machinery, or electrical power systems is strongly preferred.
•Proven leadership experience in managing quality teams, training staff, and resolving customer claims.
Knowledge and skills (general and technical)
-Technical Expertise:
•Strong knowledge of diesel generator set manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
•Proficiency in root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, 8D) and corrective action planning.
•Experience in failure analysis, troubleshooting, and CAPA implementation.
-Leadership & Collaboration:
•Ability to mentor and guide Quality Engineers.
•Strong cross-functional collaboration with Production, Engineering, and Service teams.
•Experience in leading customer-facing quality discussions and resolving warranty claims.
- Process & Compliance Management:
•In-depth understanding of ISO9001 Quality Management System and ISO14001 Environmental Standards.
•Experience with auditing processes and maintaining quality documentation.
•Proficiency in using quality metrics (FPY, PPM, COPQ) to drive process improvements.
-Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills:
•Ability to analyze complex quality data and implement continuous improvement strategies.
-Communication & Customer Engagement:
•Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical report writing and customer interactions.
•Experience in handling customer witness testing, site commissioning support, and claim resolutions.
Other requirements (licenses, certifications, specialized training)
Certifications (Preferred):
•Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) – ASQ or equivalent.
•ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Certification.
•Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt (advantageous).
