Assistant Professor (Tenure-track) in Urban Sustainability and Intelligent Energy Systems

The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) is one of the top 11 mechanical and aerospace engineering schools in the world. With well-established industry partnerships, MAE provides an active and vibrant research environment with excellent R&D infrastructure and numerous opportunities for research funding. The School has an enrolment of over 2,500 undergraduate students with over 90 faculty members and 140 full-time research staff working in well-equipped state-of-the-art laboratories. A growing research student population of over 400 is also actively engaged in strategic research and development work.

We invite highly qualified candidates in the following expertise areas to join our dynamic team of faculty:

1. Urban Sustainability and Intelligent Energy Systems

Candidate Profile:

1. Possess relevant Bachelor and PhD degrees from reputable universities.
2. A good research track record, and postdoctoral experience would be advantageous.
3. Research intersects the multidisciplinary field of urban sustainability, sustainable built environment, and intelligent energy systems.
4. Areas of interest include but are not limited to:
   • Urban climate/micro-climate analysis
   • Net zero (carbon and energy) technologies
   • Digitalization of buildings and energy systems
   • Building-to-grid integration
   • Advanced control and optimization methods
5. Demonstrate specialization in experimental methodologies, computational analysis/simulation, and data analytics/modelling.
6. The ability to develop and conduct an effective experimental, computational/numerical research program in urban sustainability, sustainable built environment, and intelligent energy systems is expected.

Responsibilities:

1. Successful candidates are expected to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
2. Supervise graduate students and undergraduate projects.
3. Candidates on tenure-track would also be expected to acquire research funding and conduct research.
