About the Role

SPH Media’s Content Lab is looking for a Content Marketing Assistant Editor (Chinese Language) to join our award-winning content marketing team on a 1-year contract. The ideal candidate must be passionate about creating engaging content, from text-based articles to social media posts and videos. Experience with news and/or current affairs content is essential.

You’ve got to have a good sense of what makes an interesting angle to a story, and you’ll need to be able to edit and produce engaging, relevant brand-enhancing content for a variety of topics and in a range of styles/tones. You should also be able to deliver stories written through a newsroom lens.

The role requires you to have excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle several tasks simultaneously and to meet tight deadlines.

  1. Project manage stories, campaigns, projects through their life cycle, assigning and editing a range of stories, working with an internal team of editors and a pool of freelancers.
  2. Edit compelling copy that delivers client messages effectively and resonates with the desired audiences.
  3. Conceptualise, craft, and execute content across various formats (print, digital, social media, infographics, video, audio, etc.) and collaborate with other content units when required.
  4. Collaborate with Sales, design, and tech teams to ensure content meets client objectives.
  5. Optimise articles/campaigns through the use of SEO best practices, audience insights, data, and performance analysis. Monitor trends in the digital media landscape.
  6. Gate-keep with a keen awareness of political, financial, social, and legal minefields.
  7. Ensure content is produced to brief at the highest quality and abides by in-house style guides.
  8. Project manage campaigns and special projects from concept to delivery.
  9. Comply with media law and ethical guidelines.

Who We Are Looking For

  1. At least five years of demonstrated excellence in content creation, producing both digital and print content.
  2. Must have news experience and knowledge of current affairs.
  3. Strong command of the Chinese language. Fluency in English is a bonus.
  4. Excellent writing, editing, and/or copy-editing skills with strong attention to detail. Storytelling, human interest storytelling, digital and social content production skills.
  5. Accurate, meticulous, with good editorial judgment and understanding of copyright/libel/media laws and sensitivities.
  6. Good at project and people management.
  7. Efficient, organised, able to meet tight deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  8. Unflappable under pressure and delivers work at a consistently high standard.
  9. Proactive and displays a willingness to take on any task. Always takes initiative to achieve desired results.
  10. Self-starter, organised, and a good problem-solver, able to eliminate obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches.
  11. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must work well with colleagues.
  12. Experience with content management systems such as CUE and WordPress is a plus.
  13. Must play well with others.
