Job description

The Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN), A*STAR, is seeking to appoint an outstanding Senior Principal Scientist to carry out internationally competitive research in Autoimmunity and Inflammatory Diseases.

The research should investigate the pathophysiology of biological pathways and novel pathogenic mechanisms for debilitating disorders, with the aim to translate insights into innovative therapeutic approaches that lead to significant clinical benefits.

The successful candidate is expected to build and maintain a strong research programme that complements the existing programmes at SIgN, and to establish collaborations with the biomedical community and industry. The candidate will also mentor Junior PIs, postdocs, and PhD students.

The Senior Principal Scientist position is equivalent to that of an Associate/Full Professor in the university system. The successful candidate can look forward to a competitive salary package and resources as well as a dynamic work environment. Although part of the research programme will be supported by core funding, the candidate is expected to expand his/her research activities by securing additional funds through the various grant schemes available in Singapore and abroad.

Job Responsibilities:

  • To lead a research team to conduct experimental research in the areas of Autoimmunity and Inflammatory Diseases.
  • To initiate and execute novel research projects, to translate research outputs into clinical or industrial collaborations.
  • To write up high impact research publications.
  • To mentor and provide support to junior researchers.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Immunology, Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences, or other relevant disciplines.
  • More than 8 years’ experience in independent research and leading a research group.
  • Strong lab-based research background in Immunology and Microbiology.
  • An excellent track record of research publications.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
