The Staff Nurse will collaborate with the transplant physician and bone marrow coordinator to facilitate patient care, educate patients about the procedure (including benefits, risks, process, post-procedure care, and follow-up), prepare and operate apheresis equipment (ensuring proper function and troubleshooting issues), monitor patients during the procedure (intervening promptly if complications occur), and maintain infection control. When not performing apheresis, the Staff Nurse will work closely with the clinic team to prepare patients for consultation (including pre-consultation activities like blood draws), provide patient assessments, education, and symptom management, collaborate with the health team to coordinate daily care plans, administer chemotherapy and biotherapy agents (including blood and platelet transfusions) as prescribed, monitor patients throughout infusions and manage emergencies, dispense medications and provide patient education, assist oncologists with procedures and examinations, manage medical supplies, participate in cancer research/trials to improve treatment protocols, and coordinate medical device maintenance. The Staff Nurse will also perform other duties as assigned by the doctor or nurse manager.
