Job Description:

Position Overview:
The Senior Finance Director is a critical member of the Regional Finance Leadership team, responsible for driving regional business strategies, enhancing financial performance, and maintaining a comprehensive overview of regional financials. This role emphasizes strategic leadership, business partnership, and effective team management, serving as a key advisor to the CFO & Vice President of Finance for Asia Pacific Innovative Medicine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead financial strategies that support key business decisions, providing robust business and financial analytics to drive performance across the region.
  • Oversee the development and execution of the strategic plan, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and facilitating seamless collaboration across diverse functions.
  • Manage the budget for all regional functions, driving accountability and adherence to financial commitments and compliance standards.
  • Support and work closely with the Asia Pacific Leadership Team (APLT) to enhance value creation, effectively prioritize portfolios, and allocate resources to optimize and sustain competitive growth.
  • Spearhead regional projects as needed, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment with key stakeholders to develop and implement comprehensive business strategies, focusing on revenue planning, resource allocation, working capital optimization, and managing financial risks while driving value creation.

Strategic Business Partnering:
  • Act as a trusted business partner to the Regional CFO and Regional Business Unit (BU) heads (including APSO and Corporate Functions), actively contributing to the Innovative Medicine Asia Pacific Finance Leadership Team.
  • Influence regional business leadership in strategic and financial decision-making processes; drive a value-oriented focus and shape the strategic direction of the Region.
  • Provide comprehensive financial support to dedicated Therapeutic Areas (TAs), Pricing Team, and Regional Advanced Analytics Lead, overseeing specialized initiatives.
  • Assume overall responsibility for end-to-end financial planning, reporting, and analysis related to external partnership brands (e.g., CAR-T, Imbruvica).
  • Champion the pursuit of growth opportunities by providing constructive challenges to existing strategies, ensuring regional business plans align with overall goals.
  • Direct performance monitoring against business plan commitments, implementing initiatives to enhance outcomes.
  • Engage actively in cross-sector finance initiatives and contribute significantly to the Singapore Finance Director's Council.
  • Participate as a key contributor within the Singapore Management Council on various campus-wide initiatives.

Financial Planning & Review:
  • Lead financial planning processes for the Long-Range Financial Plan (LRFP) and annual business plans, providing insights into market conditions and financial trends.
  • Coordinate and consolidate financial analyses, employing scenario-based thinking to drive strategic prioritization and innovative financial approaches.
  • Conduct rigorous financial performance reviews, including budget variance analyses, offering insights and performance overviews to the Management team and regional leadership.
  • Actively participate in the commercial decision-making processes, guiding target setting and resource allocation, while evaluating trade-offs involved.

Compliance and Accountability:
  • Ensure strict compliance with Johnson & Johnson's worldwide financial policies, HCBI, and Business Conduct procedures. Drive a culture of financial accountability and ethical conduct throughout the organization.

People Leadership:
  • You will oversee a diverse team of 8 finance professionals, managing both the Regional Therapeutic Area (TA) Finance team and the Regional Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. Your leadership responsibilities will encompass:
  • Team Development and Talent Management: Attract, develop, and retain top financial talent across both teams, fostering a high-performance culture that encourages professional growth and skill enhancement.
  • Implement effective coaching and mentoring programs to nurture high-potential team members.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Serve as an inspirational leader promoting open communication and teamwork between the Regional TA Finance team and the FP&A team.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration by ensuring alignment with the broader strategic objectives of the organization.
  • Goal Setting and Performance Management: Establish clear performance goals and expectations for team members, regularly reviewing progress and providing constructive feedback.
  • Conduct performance appraisals to assess contributions and recognize exceptional performance.
  • Culture of Accountability and Engagement: Foster a culture of accountability by empowering team members to take ownership of their responsibilities while providing the necessary support to succeed.
  • Promote an inclusive and engaging team environment where diverse perspectives are valued.
  • Strategic Leadership and Vision: Lead the teams in executing financial strategies that support key business initiatives, motivating them to contribute innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Training and Development: Identify skill gaps within the teams and implement training programs to enhance technical capabilities and financial acumen. Encourage continuous learning and professional development.
  • Building Resilience and Adaptability: Promote a culture of agility and flexibility, enabling both teams to respond effectively to evolving business needs.

Reporting Structure:
You will report directly to the CFO & Vice President of Finance for Asia Pacific Innovative Medicine. This position will involve close collaboration with executive leadership and participation in high-level discussions that shape the financial direction of the organization.

Other Strategic Finance Initiatives:
Drive the Global Finance agenda, including significant contributions to the SIGNIFI program, aligning local initiatives with global objectives.

Qualifications:
  • University degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting with at least 10+ years of relevant business experience.
  • Pharmaceutical industry knowledge is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated people leadership experience.
  • Results-oriented approach with a proven track record in financial and analytical skills.
  • Trusted business partner with exceptional communication and influencing capabilities.
