Job description

The Procurement Manager is responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring cost-effective purchasing of goods and services. This role requires strong negotiation skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive process improvements while ensuring compliance with company policies.

Position Accountabilities:

  1. Review and prepare monthly orders for various products, taking into consideration delivery lead time, stock turnover, and product life cycles.
  2. Identify and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish long-term partnerships.
  3. Develop policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for procurement activities.
  4. Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliability and performance.
  5. Monitor supplier compliance with contract terms, service levels, and quality standards; resolve supplier performance issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  6. Analyze procurement data, track key performance indicators, and generate reports for management.
  7. Communicate and negotiate with suppliers on pricing and marketing support targeted at improving sales and profitability.
  8. Work closely with internal teams (Finance, Operations, Sales, and Logistics) to align procurement with business goals.
  9. Conduct market research, including collation of market prices, identifying new suppliers, products, and industry trends.
  10. Provide margin checks and pricing analysis to support business initiatives from time to time.
  11. Monitor and update price lists.
  12. Lead, mentor, train, and develop opportunities for purchasing staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
  13. Implement best practices in procurement, including e-sourcing, e-procurement, and digital tools.
  14. Prepare monthly Purchasing and Inventory reports for management and conduct inventory meetings to address slow, overstock, and non-moving items.
  15. Perform all ad hoc duties assigned by management.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. A bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, procurement, or a related field.
  2. Strong negotiation and communication skills to build positive relationships with suppliers.
  3. Analytical skills to assess cost efficiency and supplier performance.
  4. Knowledge of procurement software and tools.
  5. Familiarity with regulatory and legal compliance related to procurement.
  6. Experience in contract management and supplier relationship management.
