Your future team

The Artificial Intelligence team at SAP Labs Singapore consists of experienced professionals taking on challenges posed by SAP customers. You will have the opportunity to work on breakthrough projects addressing real-world problems, challenging norms with some of SAP’s key customers.

Purpose and objectives

As an Associate AI Developer / AI Developer, you will work together with a team of dedicated experts, including AI scientists, data engineers, dev-ops engineers, and architects, with the goal of building best-in-class AI products.

Expectations and tasks

Your tasks include:

1. Push the frontiers of what is possible in artificial intelligence to create new solutions.
2. Explore, understand, and implement recent technologies and approaches for cloud applications and data pipelines.
3. Comfortably handle multi-terabyte data sets in scale-up and scale-out environments.
4. Strive for automation and cloud operation readiness.
5. Understand business processes that create and consume data to select best approaches, evaluate their performance, and assess business relevance.
6. Support machine learning research/project teams with all aspects around data.
7. Build scalable and reusable data processing pipelines.
8. Create excellence in results quality and system scalability through continuous evaluation, analysis, and refinement of the system implementation.
9. Work closely with the team, customers, and partners to holistically understand business and user requirements.
10. Perform quality assurance tasks and solve complex integration issues.
11. Ability to work in global teams across different time zones.
12. Immerse yourself quickly into new topics, terminology, and development tasks.

Educational and experience requirements

Required:

1. Degree in Computer Science or related field.
2. 0 to 3 years of working experience as a software developer, preferably in AI-focused cloud application development.
3. A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in algorithms, data structures, object-oriented programming, design patterns, multi-threaded programming, and software design principles.
4. Hands-on knowledge in at least two of the server/client-side programming languages such as Java, Scala, Go, Python, Node.js, C++.
5. Exposure to Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
6. Hands-on knowledge of frameworks such as Spring, Play, AngularJS, Flask, etc.
7. Fundamental knowledge of container & orchestration technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
8. Experience with cloud-based application development using platforms such as SAP’s business technology platform, AWS, Azure, & Google Cloud Platform is a plus.
9. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
10. Strong desire to overcome obstacles and benefit SAP's customers.
11. Excellent written and communication skills in English.

Optional:

1. Hands-on experience in Shell Scripting, PowerShell.
2. Knowledge of UI Design Patterns and Interactions.
3. Operational knowledge of Linux distributions such as Redhat, Ubuntu, CentOS, CoreOS.
4. Exposure to deployment and container orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Puppet, Chef, Ansible.
5. Knowledge of Machine Learning fundamentals.
