Job description

As Duty Engineer, you’ll assist the Chief Engineer in managing the engineering/maintenance of your hotel and ensure the safety and comfort of hotel guests and team members. You’ll become a veteran and perform your duties proficiently. Motivating and training your team with the skills to keep hotels always looking their best.

A little taste of your day-to-day

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:

  1. Recommends to the Assistant Chief Engineer, new policies and procedures for a more economical operation and maintenance program
  2. Participates in the preparation of the annual POMEC Budget
  3. Supports and initiates programs for the improvement procedures and the reduction of energy and utility costs
  4. Analyses and monitors energy costs and expenditures for the department
  5. Works with superior in the preparation and management of the department’s budget and is aware of financial targets
  6. Conducts shift briefings to ensure hotel activities and operational requirements are known
  7. Interacts and cooperates with other departments when necessary to provide additional or specialized services for functions, promotions and festivities
  8. Cooperates and communicates with other sections in the Engineering department
  9. Responsible to issues warnings to his subordinates for infringements of Hotel Rules and Regulations
  10. Responsible for the proper organization and functioning of the energy management function of the POMEC Department
  11. Ensures all engineering employees follow the Engineering Standards and Procedures as issued from time to time
  12. Ensures punctual attendance and adherence to duty schedules by all subordinate supervisors
  13. Conduct on the job training in accordance with the departmental standards and procedures and maintains a record of progress for each staff member
  14. Provide input for probation and formal performance appraisal discussions in line with company guidelines
  15. Coach, counsel and discipline staff in breach of hotel policies and departmental procedures, providing constructive feedback to enhance performance
  16. Interacts and cooperates with Hotel guests and outside contractors as directed by superior
  17. Monitoring the ESCAP system
  18. Demonstrate Awareness of OH&S policies and procedures and ensure all procedures are conducted safely and within OH&S guidelines
  19. Be aware of duty of care and adhere to occupational, health and safety legislation, policies and procedures
  20. Be familiar with property safety, first aid and fire and emergency procedures and operate equipment safely and sensibly
  21. Initiate action to correct a hazardous situation and notify supervisors of potential dangers
  22. Log security incidents and accidents in accordance with hotel requirements

What we need from you

● A minimum qualification in Diploma in Building Facilities Management

● At least 3 years of experience at a supervisory level, including management experience
