Job Summary

The Director, Tax, Asia Pacific, is responsible for all tax compliance, planning and business support for all entities in the Asia Pacific region, and reports to AVP, International Tax under the U.S. Global Tax Team with a dotted line functional reporting to the Chief Finance Executive, Asia Pacific, Europe & Middle East (APEME).

Job Roles & Responsibilities

  • Serve as the tax leader for all tax matters in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Oversee local country tax compliance, tax audits and transfer pricing for all entities in the region including coordinating with the finance teams, external tax advisors, law department and US Finance and tax teams.
  • Oversee local country tax provision for all entities in coordination with the local finance teams, external tax advisors and US tax team.
  • Work with various process owners (e.g., Marketing & Sales, Operations, Inventory Revenue Management, Development, Asset Management, Legal, Human Resources, etc.) to provide business support/advice and tax planning including but not limited to new product form, new business initiatives, M&A transactions and tax structuring.
  • Oversee and work with local Finance & Accounting (F&A) teams and external tax advisers on the various tax audits in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Ensure technical development and training for the Finance team on relevant tax developments.
  • Manage day-to-day relationships, budget and service levels from external tax advisors across the region.
  • Manage internal controls SOX compliance and documentation requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent). Accounting or Finance degree preferred.
  • 8-10 years international tax experience in Big 4 or multinational corporation with advanced tax experience in the following: Tax planning, compliance and audits.
  • Tax forecasting.
  • Foreign tax credit and cash repatriation planning.
  • US GAAP and IFRS accounting for income taxes.
  • VAT, employment taxes and other non-income tax issues.
  • Good exposure to taxation in Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Singapore.
  • Experience with SOX compliance requirements.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a culture of excellence, integrity and accountability.
  • Willingness to travel.
