DESIGNATION : Director, Social and Community Services
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Social and Community Services will be a key leader in driving the strategic development, implementation, and management of our social services and community programmes. This position will play an integral role in shaping policies, designing training programmes, and overseeing the execution of community initiatives that reflect The Salvation Army's values and commitment to high-quality care. The Director will act as a vital link between community centres, social programmes, and the Singapore Regional Headquarters, ensuring that all services meet the needs of the community while upholding the organisation's values and mission.
The Director of Social and Community Services is responsible for overseeing the organisation's social and community programmes, ensuring they align with The Salvation Army's values and high standards of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute long-term strategies to align programmes with organisational goals. Advise leadership on trends and opportunities.
- Operational Oversight: Ensure efficient day-to-day programme operations. Monitor performance, manage resources, and drive continuous improvement.
- Program Evaluation: Implement evaluation frameworks to assess programme outcomes. Use data to guide improvements and ensure sustainability.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team. Foster a culture of learning and collaboration.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance the organisation's mission. Represent the organisation at events and meetings.
- Budget Management: Assist the Regional Programme Officer in planning, forecasting, monitoring, reporting, cost control, compliance, communication, policy development, and resource allocation, of the community centres and social programmes, to ensure financial efficiency and alignment with organisational goals and financial constraints.
QUALIFICATIONS
Job Requirements:
- A degree in Social Work, Social Services, or a related field.
- At least 7-10 years of experience in social and/or community services, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership or management role.
- Strong experience in developing policies, managing social programmes, and leading teams.
- Knowledge of social service best practices and community development strategies.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with centre heads and programme managers.
- Proven ability to manage and evaluate complex programmes and initiatives.
