Director of Accounting

Michael Page International Singapore is seeking an experienced Director of Accounting to lead and manage accounting services for both corporate and individual clients. This role combines strategic advisory with hands-on accounting responsibilities, ensuring clients receive accurate financial statements, robust internal controls, and sound financial management advice.

Description

  • Client Advisory & Accounting Strategy Development:
  • Provide expert advisory services to corporate and individual clients on matters such as financial management, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and internal controls.
  • Advise corporate clients on accounting matters, including structuring financial processes, optimizing reporting practices, and improving operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements for corporate clients in compliance with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS), US GAAP, and IFRS (as applicable).
  • Ensure financial statements are accurate, timely, and meet all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, including balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Budgeting & Financial Planning:
  • Work with clients to develop and implement detailed budgets, financial forecasts, and projections, helping clients optimize financial strategies, enhance profitability, and streamline operations.
  • Provide strategic financial advice, including capital expenditure analysis, performance improvement recommendations, and cost-control strategies.
  • Deliver financial analysis and insights to clients, including variance analysis, to help them understand their financial performance and make informed decisions.
  • Internal Controls & Process Improvement:
  • Advise clients on improving their internal controls and financial processes, ensuring proper safeguarding of assets and compliance with best practices.
  • Evaluate clients' financial systems and accounting procedures, recommending enhancements to increase efficiency, reduce risk, and improve compliance with relevant standards.
  • Support the design and implementation of efficient accounting systems that ensure accuracy in financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of accounting professionals, ensuring that the team is equipped with the necessary skills to deliver high-quality service to clients.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the accounting team, ensuring up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and best practices.
  • Oversee workflow and ensure timely delivery of all client work, including reviewing team members' work for quality and accuracy.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's in Accounting or other advanced qualifications is a plus).
  • At least 10 years of managerial experience in accounting, financial reporting, and advisory services, with significant experience working with both corporate and individual clients.
  • In-depth knowledge of Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS), US GAAP, and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
  • Proven experience in preparing financial statements (including consolidated financial statements of complex group structures) in compliance with US GAAP and IFRS and advising clients on financial reporting practices.
  • Strong ability to assess financial performance, analyze financial data, and provide actionable insights to clients.
  • Experience advising corporate clients on accounting matters such as mergers, acquisitions, financial restructuring, and optimizing business operations.
  • Experience advising individual clients on personal financial planning, budgeting, and investment strategies.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and mentorship experience, with the ability to guide and develop junior accounting staff.
  • Strong client relationship management skills, with a proven track record of providing high-quality client service.
  • Experience with high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) and advising on complex personal financial and wealth management strategies.
  • Familiarity with cloud accounting software and other accounting technologies that enhance efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Exposure to financial audits or collaborating closely with auditors in the preparation of financial statements.
