Job description

Reporting to the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer (CMCO) and serving as a member of the management team, this position is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all SBF’s communications activities, with the below principal accountabilities. Leading a small team with oversight on branding, marketing communications and media, this personnel is expected to be directly helming the media scope, whilst mentoring team members.

Media and Corporate Communications

  • Serve as SBF representative to the media: cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, industry partners, government agencies and other relevant stakeholders to amplify SBF’s presence and messaging
  • Lead in key message development and corporate storytelling, including content development, drafting of talking points and thought leadership articles/pieces
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to internal stakeholders on all communication-related issues
  • Develop corporate materials, including SBF’s annual reports, corporate presentations and brochures, and corporate videos
  • Supervise the production of EDMs to publicise SBF’s programmes and to strengthen engagement with members
  • Assist in crisis communications planning and management for the organisation

Branding

  • Lead the team in articulating SBF’s vision, mission, value proposition and organisational objectives to shape perception and the image of the Federation, befitting its stature as an apex business chamber
  • Manage the SBF brand identity, including visual assets, messaging guidelines, and brand positioning, to ensure consistency and relevance across all touch points

Marketing Communications

  • Develop and implement marketing and communications strategies aligned with SBF’s goals
  • Collaborate with internal departments (policy, membership, business divisions) to develop integrated marketing and communications campaigns across paid, shared, earned and owned channels which include social and digital efforts, that support their objectives and towards the division’s KPI of members’ engagement rate

Job Responsibilities

  • Strategy and Reporting

Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of:

  • a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will enhance SBF’s image and position within the business communication and the general public
  • facilitating internal and external communications
  • all SBF’s marketing, communications and public relations activities and materials including publications, media relations, client acquisition and so forth

2. Media

  • Provide communications counsel and support for media and non-media events and activities to all divisions in SBF, the Secretariat and SBF Council
  • Develop story angles, key messages for SBF events and activities involving media i.e. manage press briefings, interviews and media queries
  • Facilitate media queries and ensure timely response to media
  • Draft and/or provide inputs and edit/translate commentaries, speeches, messages and write-ups
  • Media engagement and cultivation

3. Social Media

  • Expand and grow SBF’s digital presence and increase online engagement with members and wider business community through digital marketing campaigns and content marketing
  • Oversee content creation and implementation for social media channels including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and WeChat
  • Create digital marketing campaigns for key events

4. Digital Collaterals

  • Management of the website, ensuring content is enhanced, accurate and updated in a timely manner
  • Serve as overall editor for SBF’s e-magazine BiZSpoke

5. Corporate Collaterals

  • Develop corporate materials to support SBF’s outreach
  • Lead in the development and on-schedule completion of Annual Report and Corporate Video
  • Oversee collateral production of other departments including editing and design

6. Corporate Identity

  • Serve as guardian of corporate identity to ensure brand standards are consistently applied throughout organisation

7. Capability Building and Budget Management

  • Building capability within the team and organisation
  • Manage team’s budget

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 10 -15 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years in leading a public relations and marketing communications team
  • Strong in Marketing Communications; oral and written communications skills
  • Possess good strategic, analytical, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated creativity and successful experience in writing press releases, making presentations and negotiating with media
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets; and grooming and developing personnel for succession planning
  • Ability to manage multiple projects within tight timelines
  • Good relationship and experience with media
