DevOps Engineer

The Senior DevOps Engineer shall support the implementation of digitalisation strategy for Group Networks SG which aims to loosen the IT architecture, increase organisational agility and enable an API driven digital ecosystem.

His/her main responsibility is to enhance and operate the OpenShift container platform based on Kubernetes (K8S) and all platform components such as API gateway service, Automation Engine, Kafka messaging bus and MongoDB database. This platform, known as Network Service Bus (NSB), serves as the centralized integration and API platform for all Singtel Singapore Group Networks capabilities and supports over 140 million transactions per month. He/she may also be required to setup and implement new platforms as part of new Network As A Service (NaaS) capabilities introduction.

His/her main responsibility also includes designing, developing and maintaining the Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) software development pipelines required by the various teams and projects which include backend Java based applications, frontend Node.JS based applications, automation ansible based applications, and analytics Python-based applications.

He/she shall ensure that the automation toolsets supporting software feature delivery, as used by developers, are efficient, repeatable, secure and reliable. He/she shall also ensure that all the platforms and their respective components are supported with proactive monitoring and are kept up to date with regular patching and upgrades.

Make an Impact by:

• Designing, building and maintaining the software development pipeline automation with its related tool sets (e.g. JIRA, GIT/BitBucket, Jenkins, Nexus, etc.) to enable Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD).
• Designing and implementing the infrastructure and operating environment for container based microservices that meet the agreed high availability, performance and security requirements.
• Designing and developing the test automation to validate the builds in the CI/CD pipeline.
• Working closely with development teams or other internal teams to ensure that solutions are designed with customer user experience, scale/performance, security and operability in mind.
• Supporting and ensuring that the software releases align with the organization’s internal software release and deployment process.
• Facilitating and supporting the troubleshooting or root cause analysis of platform issues or incidents with other internal teams.
• Proactively monitoring and identifying opportunities for automation, process improvement and architecture simplification for the platforms.
• Participating in project planning and management activities.
• Researching and developing prototypes using the latest, most relevant technologies and trends for continuous improvement of the platform.

Skills for Success:

• Bachelor's Degree in IT/Computer Science/Computer Engineering or relevant discipline.
• At least 5 to 7 years of working experience in DevOps automation, containerization and orchestration.
• Strong knowledge and experience in software development automation tools (e.g. Ansible, Terraform, Nexus, Jenkins, SoapUI, SonarQube).
• Strong understanding and experience in virtualization and networking in a container environment, such as OpenShift/Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of cloud computing/container deployment and management such as AWS/Azure/OpenStack etc.
• Breadth of knowledge – OS, system administration, networking, infrastructure, storage, distributed computing, cloud computing.
• Strong understanding and practice of Agile projects (such as SCRUM/KANBAN) and the usage of related tools such as JIRA.
