Desk-Aligned Engineer (Commodities) - Singapore - Leading Alternative Investment Manager

This is a fantastic position on a commodities team that seeks to generate alpha through directional and relative value strategies across both physical and financial commodities markets. They evaluate opportunities in natural gas, power, crude, and refined products, and agriculture, primarily in North America and Europe.

Using fundamental research, proprietary analytical methodologies, and quantitative analysis to drive their views, these techniques are combined with an intense focus on understanding each market they trade, reflected in the ability to generate supply and demand balances for each commodity or product.

Your Opportunity

• Partner with trading, research and data teams to develop core analytics and deliver key initiatives for a Singapore-based commodities trading business
• Understand business challenges and drive technical/quantitative solutions
• Work with large data sets and build data analytics trading tools
• Integrate data and insights into models and investment processes
• Structure scalable, maintainable solutions, improving model frameworks and performance
• As a stakeholder in the advanced technology platform, drive enhancements

Your Skills and Talents

• Outstanding academic record. BS degree or higher in Computer Science/Engineering; or equivalent experience
• Excellent technology skills. Fluent in Python or comparable language. Experience using multiple programming languages is desirable
• Min. of 3 - 7 years of Software Engineering experience
• Experience with complex, multi-site, systems architectures, strong Unix operating system knowledge and exposure to a variety of database technologies
• Exposure to commodity markets would be an advantage
• Highly motivated to work in a hands-on collaborative environment
• Commitment to excellence and strong attention to detail
• Fluent Mandarin skills
