Deputy Manager/Manager, Senior Underwriter

Job Responsibility

1. Assess medical and financial risks of High Net Worth and Retail life insurance applications.
2. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate the risks and exposures to potential clients.
3. Assess and approve new business applications and post-issuance assessment according to delegated underwriting authority.
4. Offer preliminary underwriting assessment.
5. Negotiate with treaty reinsurer on underwriting terms.
6. Provide business support to the sales channel including technical training and face-to-face interaction on new business and underwriting matters.
7. Work with treaty reinsurer on facultative cases.
8. Make decisions, within the delegated underwriting authority, that are consistent with underwriting standards, compatible with market trends, and in compliance with corporate and regulatory guidelines.
9. Work closely with the sales channel in managing distributor expectations.
10. Provide input as a subject matter expert in cross-functional projects.
11. Any other tasks assigned by the company.

Requirements:

1. Minimum a degree and professional qualifications such as ACII, ALU, or LOMA.
2. Minimum 10 years of life and medical underwriting experience.
3. Sound knowledge of medical conditions, insurance laws, and regulations.
4. Great initiative, drive, and ability to work well independently and effectively in a team.
5. Highly adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced challenging environment.
6. Customer-centric with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
7. Proficient in MS Office.
