Job description

China Re Group is the largest reinsurance group in Asia and the 8th globally by gross premium income. The Group is rated “A (excellent)” continuously by A.M. Best since 2010, rated “A+” or “A” continuously by Standard & Poor’s since 2014.

In 2016, we set up China Re Singapore Branch with the approval of a license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Our office is located within Raffles Place, at CapitaGreen on Market Street.

Currently, we are writing both life and general business in the Asia Pacific region.

We are now seeking to fill the following position in our Singapore team.

Deputy Chief Operation Officer (DCOO)

Duties and responsibilities

1. Assists the CEO of the Singapore Branch to implement the strategic plan of the headquarters and promote the high-quality business development;

2. Assists the CEO to establish and maintain good relationships with important clients, brokers and regulators, maintain the Branch’s market position, and further strengthen China Re’s branding in the region;

3. Assists the CEO to carry out risk management and legal and compliance related work, takes charge of the overall coordination of risk management and internal control compliance management of the Singapore branch, establishes and improves the management information system, processes and mechanism of the Singapore Branch, implements the local laws, regulations and regulatory requirements and policies of the headquarters and Singapore;

4. Assists the CEO to strengthen the Singapore Branch team building related work, cooperate with the headquarters and the branch on two-way exchange of talents and international talent development related work;

5. Strengthens the communication and collaboration between the Singapore Branch and the headquarters and other business entities within the Group, promotes resource integration and business linkage, and improves the overall operating efficiency;

6. Assists the CEO to optimize the internal management process of the Singapore Branch, and promote the efficient implementation and practice of the headquarters management system, information system and technical solutions in the Singapore Branch;

7. Responsible for providing the necessary reception services for China Re Group and companies for business visits;

8. Reports to the CEO of the Singapore Branch and the head of the risk management department/internal control and compliance department of the headquarters, coordinate with the headquarters to provide support when necessary, and complete other work assigned by the CEO of the headquarters and Singapore Branch.

Qualifications Requirements

Relevant professional qualification (i.e. university degree in mathematics, economics or in scientific related discipline, or insurance qualifications with relevant experience).

Minimum of 15 years’ related work experience in the Re/insurance field.

Strong business analytical and risk management capabilities.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and strong in relationship management.

Effectively bilingual in both written and verbal communications including communicating with Chinese speaking colleagues in the head office.
