What The Role Is
You are the psychological health consultant to the Division/Formation/Command you are affiliated to.
What You Will Be Working On
At the operational level, you are responsible to develop the overall psychological health strategy and workplan for your affiliated Division/Formation/Command to meet the psychological health objectives. To this end, you need to engage commanders/supervisors at various levels to understand their needs and organisational context. This will lead you to plan out well-being initiatives such as Division/Formation/Command and unit well-being days, organise activities/talks/visits, and monitor well-being status, present findings at key forums and work with commanders/supervisors to develop intervention when necessary. At the tactical level, you will need to support service personnel one-to-one (e.g. conduct interviews, provide counselling, train them on life skills, etc.), and partner commanders/supervisors to resolve workplace adjustment issues and advise them on deployment options and management plans. You will also be expected to train commanders/supervisors on managing psychological health challenges at the workplace. Your challenges lie in reducing stigma and shaping a psychologically healthy culture in the Division/Formation/Command, encouraging service personnel to step forward when they are in distress, and keeping abreast of the latest developments in the field.
