Data Scientist

Data Scientist Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Data mining or extracting usable data from valuable data sources
2. Using machine learning tools to select features, create and optimize classifiers
3. Carrying out the preprocessing of structured and unstructured data
4. Enhancing data collection procedures to include all relevant information for developing analytic systems
5. Processing, cleansing, and validating the integrity of data to be used for analysis
6. Analyzing large amounts of information to find patterns and solutions
7. Developing prediction systems and machine learning algorithms
8. Presenting results in a clear manner
9. Proposing solutions and strategies to tackle business challenges
10. Collaborating with Business and IT teams
11. Experience in several of the following skill clusters:

• Relational databases, data marts, and data warehouses – experience with Oracle and/or PostgreSQL platforms; crafting secure and effective SQL queries
• NoSQL databases – key-value, document, graph, column family
• Reproducible computing – version control, software packaging, continuous integration/continuous delivery, process monitoring, and containerization
• Automated workflows - programmatically author, schedule and monitor workflows using Apache Airflow, Azure Logic Apps, or similar
• Distributed computing – distribute jobs for concurrent processing using Apache Spark, Databricks, or similar
• Streaming data – process continuous, serial port, or micro-batch online data
• Optimize workflow and clinical information systems
• Expand and modify systems to serve new business purposes and improve existing processes
• Complying with a strict set of guidelines
• Testing, maintaining, and monitoring computer programs and systems
• Troubleshooting system malfunctions
• Interpreting data to find solutions to clinical issues
• Creating and running data reports
• Developing programs and databases that accurately capture data

Job Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electronics or Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or other related technical disciplines
2. Min Degree in IT/Business Analytics
3. Analytical and possess good insights
4. Excellent communication skills
5. Preferably 1-3 (Analyst) or 3-5 (Senior Analyst) years of relevant experience
6. Prior experience in a healthcare setting would be an advantage
7. Fluency in command-line shell scripting, Python, and/or R
8. Ability to work independently as well as in a team
9. Knowledge in cloud technologies is preferable
10. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
