Data Center Operations Technician

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

Key job responsibilities

• You will work as part of the Operations team, whose primary responsibility is the maintenance and upkeep of the data center infrastructure.
• Your role includes server rack installation, hardware break-fix on various components, troubleshooting network issues, and responding to emergent situations that affect operational stability.
• You will work and meet SLAs against assigned trouble tickets, being the first line touch point for hardware troubleshooting and technical issues.
• You will perform on-call duties and will participate in Data Center operations, handling scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
• Participate in team meetings for metric analysis and achieving daily/weekly goals.
• Contribute to documentation on technical issues through root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives relevant to the data center environment.
• Involves covering 24x7 shift rotation.

A day in the life

• You will support DC infrastructure equipment (e.g., racks, servers, networking devices, hardware components, cables).
• Work in a ticket-based environment and perform routine operation activities on hardware or spare parts.
• Show a strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem-solving.
• Maintain tidiness in operation areas.
