About The Role
We are recruiting for a Commercial Services Marine Supervisor - Post Fixture for our Commercial Services unit. Our Commercial Services team is the engine room of our Commercial business, focusing on post-deal tasks such as contracting, invoicing, trade finance, shipping documentation, and laytime. The Commercial Services Post Fixture team supports Rio Tinto Marine Ops and Chartering business.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
- Leading with our values of care, courage, and curiosity.
- Ensuring that appropriate risk mitigation tools are in place.
- Producing accurate and timely marine invoices and laytime calculations.
- Closing voyages within a reasonable timeframe to guarantee marine visibility on Voyage P&L.
- Collaborating with our marine stakeholders.
- Ensuring that processes are executed as per the agreed terms.
- Supporting process improvement and driving efficiency.
- Managing our post-fixture team to work efficiently and support our team development.

Reporting to the Commercial Services Manager Pacific, you will be responsible for:
- Providing leadership and oversight of the Commercial Services Marine Post Fixture team, consisting of approximately 10 members to maintain high performance.
- Managing a team of specialists and analysts responsible for marine invoicing and laytime processes.
- Supporting the Commercial Services Pacific manager in executing team objectives.
- Working with the CS Continuous Improvement & Digital teams to implement new digital automation and process improvement opportunities and efficiencies.
- Ensuring that all relevant Service Level Agreements and KPIs are met.
- Leading ad-hoc projects aimed at optimizing value for the company.
- Collaborating with various Business Unit teams to build a supportive environment.
- Managing the invoicing and laytime teams to ensure accurate processing and closure of voyages.
- Ensuring voyage P&L accuracy and providing input for payments due to Owners and receivables from Charterers.
- Adapting plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.
- Proactively identifying, driving, and promoting business process, digital, and automation improvements.
- Addressing issues with impact beyond the own team.
About You
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma or equivalent, Maritime background preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- At least 5 years of experience in managing Marine Operations or Post-Fixture processes.
- Comprehension of maritime terms and extensive knowledge of the maritime industry.
- Proven effective leadership experience in driving performance for a large team.
- High level of focus and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of contractual concepts and understanding of associated trade-offs.
- Experience in leading and coaching large-sized teams.
- Experience in bulk/non-bulk commodity logistics.
- Experience in change management and business transformation.
- Commercial mindset.
- Knowledge and usage of IMOS and Sedna are beneficial.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Knowledge of Power BI, SalesForce or any other data analytics tools/applications.
