Role Summary/ Purpose

The Controls & Electrical Instrumentations Engineer – Field Service role is a field-based role which requires the incumbent to travel to customer sites across the APAC region to provide specialist installation and maintenance support as directed by his Resource Manager. The role will report to the Resource Manager for SEA region.

Essential Responsibilities

• Represent our client both technically and professionally to ensure that equipment is installed, maintained, and started properly.
• Work independently or with a team of field services with direction from the Service Manager/Installation Manager/Site Manager/Lead Engineer to support installation services for Baker Hughes/GE Aero derivatives Gas Turbine (LM2500) /Heavy Duty Gas Turbines/Nuovo Pignone Compressors (BCL Compressors) /Pumps/Auxiliaries in customer Owned Sites in remote Shipyards, Oilfields, Industrial Facilities and LNG Plant.
• Provide control support for outages, shutdowns, minor and major maintenance, start-up, and commissioning related to Baker Hughes/GE Aero derivatives Gas Turbine/Heavy Duty Gas Turbines/Steam Turbines/Nuovo Pignone Compressors/Pumps/Auxiliaries in Oil & Gas platforms.
• Manage electrical and instrumentation related activities such as outages, services, installation, start-up, and commissioning support.
• Possess expert knowledge of Gas Turbine Control Systems and Auxiliary Systems including but not limited to GE Mark Vie, Woodward Netcon, Micronet, Micronet Plus, & PLC Allen Bradley controls systems.
• Act as the focal point for Controls commissioning between customer and internal Baker Hughes project management team.
• Perform Electrical & Instrumentations tasks besides managing the commissioning of equipment with the current control systems.
• Provide customers with technical direction and support on the calibration, repair, and operation of instrumentation and controls equipment.
• Implement conversions, modifications, and upgrades to gas turbine controls systems including software upgrades and major retrofits.
• Troubleshoot, reinstall, test, evaluate, calibrate, and maintain instruments or devices upon completion of repairs.
• Record and report abnormal function or out of tolerance conditions of equipment and initiate corrective action and documentation.
• Read and interpret electrical/mechanical flow and instrument diagrams.
• Follow proper Customer/Company Schedule Targets Mindset while adhering to Quality and HSE Rules during Gas Turbines Commissioning and Start-up Activities.
• Troubleshoot and provide routine maintenance checkout for Gas Turbines Products.
• Prepare job-planning documents based on Assignment’s Scope of Work.
• Communicate effectively with Service/Installation/Project Managers and Site Leaders/Site Manager on job planning and execution.
• Provide input for Daily, Weekly & Final report for outages and installations projects.
• Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for Customer records and as Reference for future Outages.
• Actively participate in customer and/or contractor meetings and promote their recurrence and follow-up action plans.
• Establish critical activity tasks and remark any HSE aspect to be followed through the immediate Report after the Daily HSE Tool Box Talking.
• Ensure compliance with all Quality procedures and documentation applicable to specific activities.
• Follow and apply the Red Flag Review process for New Units Installation and ensure Site Quality Check List/Job Cards/Field Procedure are followed and properly signed.
• Ensure all RCA and Lesson Learned are addressed properly.
• Address all Non-Conformity (technical and materials) using BHGE e-tools and follow up till resolution.
• Ensure compliance with local/current legislation, requests & requirements present in the site Safety Manual.
• Participate in NPI (New Product Introduction) training to acquire Multiskilling.

Qualifications/ Requirements

• Possess an Engineering Degree or Technical Diploma in Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering.
• At least three (3) years of work experience.
• Significant work experience, preferably in the Energy or Oil & Gas industry.
• Demonstrated experience as lead field engineer.
• Strong knowledge on Baker Hughes/GE Aeroderivates Gas Turbine/Heavy Duty Gas Turbines/Steam Turbines/Compressors/Auxiliaries installation & maintenance philosophy.
• Fluent oral and written English.
• Strong customer service orientation and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work efficiently without direct supervision.
• Focus on Health, Safety, and Environmental mindset and compliance.
