Job description

Our client is a leading MNC in Aerospace, due to succession planning they are looking to hire a Contracts Manager supporting their Sales & Service division; managing their APAC business. You can come from heavy industries, Aerospace or Oil & Gas covering Contracts Management.

You will be responsible for developing, managing, changing, and interpreting complex, strategic and/or high-value contracts critical to long-term business success.

The scope of the role will be primarily dealing with contracts related to their commercial customers in the APAC regions although more occasional work with customers in other regions and/or in the military segment customers is not precluded.

Other internal business departments will engage you as an expert in the formation, negotiation, amendment, and interpretation of contracts whether such contracts are supporting new business opportunities or existing ongoing business commitments. You will additionally work to ensure compliance to law, legislation, and internal governance processes at all times. You will also play a leading role in business capture processes (bids and proposals).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads / Participates in the proposal and request for approval (RFA) processes for new site/group contracts, contract amendments or renewals. Is responsible for all contractual aspects of the RFA and proposal. Minimizes risk and adds value to RFAs and proposals. Ensures policy and procedure are followed and that all stakeholders are engaged. Meets customer deadlines.
  • Leads complex negotiations of strategic significance to the division. Effectively negotiates all essential contract terms and conditions within a broad scope of responsibility.
  • Investigates and resolves claims, complaints and disputes elevated for resolution. Coordinates with relevant functions as applicable.
  • Manages existing contracts. Monitors contract performance and financial health. Identifies key contract milestones and takes appropriate action. Determines our levels of compliance with existing contracts. Advises colleagues on how to interpret, maximize the value and minimize the risk in our contracts.
  • Proficiently drafts and/or reviews contract language and contract amendments. Writes and reviews letters and other formal documents.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, codes of conduct, export compliance regulations, aerospace industry regulations and any other applicable legislation; making timely recommendations to implement needed actions.
  • Serves as a functional expert. Identifies mentoring needs. Trains and mentors less experienced employees. May provide leadership to others in department or to ad-hoc teams. Suggests and helps implement process improvements.
  • Acts as the point of contact with the customer on assigned contracts and participates in customer meetings.
  • Participates in project teams to achieve any assigned business objectives, acting as the subject matter expert for contracts and/or the aerospace aftermarket segment.
  • Other duties as assigned relative to the field of compliance and contract management.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or a recognized contract management certification with extensive experience of contract management in the aerospace or related industry field.
  • Knowledge of the commercial aerospace industry segment: structure, key players, requirements, and trends with proficient in contract drafting skills with excellent English written-word skills used in formal communications of all types.
  • Good knowledge of typical contract structure and language plus foundational contract law principles.
  • Effective and proven negotiation skills with ability to review and interpret complex pricing models and business cases and understand of the linkage between business and immediate contract area.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial aspects of business and program management.
  • Ability to advise on advanced contract administration principles, industry practices, regulations, and policies.
  • Knowledge of complex legal and regulatory requirements related to contract administration that may include international compliance and government procurement.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communications skills at all levels.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and at a global level.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision, to meet deadlines.
