Job description

A construction supervisor oversees all aspects of a construction project, managing workers, materials, and equipment to ensure work is completed on time, within budget, and according to safety regulations, by coordinating subcontractors, monitoring progress, and resolving any issues that may arise on the construction site; they are responsible for maintaining quality standards and ensuring compliance with building codes throughout the project.

Key responsibilities:

  • Project planning and execution:Develop detailed work plans, allocate tasks to crew members, and monitor project timelines to meet deadlines.
  • Team management:Hire, supervise, and train construction workers and subcontractors, ensuring efficient team collaboration.
  • Quality control:Inspect work regularly to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Safety compliance:Enforce safety protocols on site, address safety concerns, and ensure all workers follow proper safety procedures.
  • Material management:Manage the ordering, delivery, and storage of construction materials to maintain project flow.
  • Budget control:Monitor project expenditures, identify cost variances, and implement corrective actions to stay within budget.
  • Communication:Regularly communicate project status updates to project managers, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Problem-solving:Identify and address any issues that arise during construction, including delays, design changes, or unforeseen challenges.
  • Compliance with regulations:Ensure adherence to all applicable building codes, permits, and regulations.
