Construction Manager

The client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Construction Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of data center construction projects. The successful candidate will be based in Singapore and will play a key role in managing projects, particularly those involving cross-border coordination with their Batam-based initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning and Management:

   • Lead the overall planning, coordination, and execution of data center construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
   • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
   • Coordinate with stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, and local authorities, to ensure project requirements are clearly understood and met.

2. Cross-Border Coordination:

   • Manage and oversee construction projects in Batam, ensuring seamless communication and coordination between the Singapore and Batam teams.
   • Regularly travel to Batam to monitor progress, address issues, and ensure alignment with project goals.
   • Ensure compliance with local regulations, codes, and standards in both Singapore and Batam.

3. Budget and Cost Control:

   • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions and avoiding overruns.
   • Conduct regular financial reviews, track expenses, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
   • Negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best terms and value for the project.

4. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

   • Ensure that all construction work meets or exceeds industry standards and specifications, particularly in the highly specialized field of data center construction.
   • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
   • Implement and enforce rigorous quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle.

5. Team Leadership:

   • Lead and motivate a multidisciplinary project team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
   • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff, promoting professional development and growth.
   • Resolve any conflicts or issues that may arise within the project team or with external stakeholders.

6. Reporting and Documentation:

   • Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management, highlighting key milestones, risks, and issues.
   • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, permits, drawings, and meeting minutes.
   • Ensure all project documentation is up to date, accurate, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction project management, with at least 3 years in the data center industry.
• Proven experience managing cross-border construction projects, particularly in Southeast Asia, with specific experience in Batam being highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of data center design, construction, and operations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
• Proficiency in project management software and tools.
• Willingness to travel regularly between Singapore and Batam.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar.
• Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia or experience working in Indonesia is an advantage.
• Experience with sustainable construction practices and green building certifications.
