Job description

Our client, one of the largest oil and gas producers, seeks to hire an experienced Compliance Manager reporting to the Head of Legal.

Responsibilities

  1. Manage and enhance existing compliance program that is effective in dealing with compliance risks.
  2. Manage and monitor key compliance activities and report on a regular basis as to their status and actions taken to mitigate such risks.
  3. Work with respective business/support departments, as well as third parties, proactively and collaboratively in the implementation of compliance programme and to resolve issues.
  4. Maintain manual on Compliance processes and procedures and ensure this is kept updated.
  5. Advise on business activities that are in or out of scope, per current/future regulatory status as well as evaluate key outputs from regulators, industry bodies and advise Management and respective business/support units of the impact.
  6. Manage staff training program; lead efforts to promote a strong and robust compliance culture within the organization with regular compliance training.
  7. Carry out monthly, quarterly, or ad-hoc compliance reporting, internally and externally.
  8. Conduct internal investigations where needed, in relation to any compliance issue and produce investigation reports.
  9. Manage a team of 3 or more in the Compliance Section.
  10. Any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in law or business.
  2. Minimum 10 years’ experience in handling various aspects of compliance work relevant to the oil and gas industry.
  3. Core experience includes risk and post-transaction monitoring and analysis, familiarity with International Sanction and Trade Embargo, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Data Privacy and Protection, Anti-Money Laundering and Know Your Customer programs.
  4. Demonstrated expertise in trading issues and issue resolutions.
  5. Meticulous with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  7. Excellent organization and time management skills.
  8. Good written and spoken English and Chinese language skills as this role is required to liaise with HQ in Beijing regularly.
