The main role of the Competence Development Manager is a key member of the MHR Leadership Team, reporting to the MHR Director, with overall responsibility for seafarer training within Technical Management.
Responsibilities & Duties
Develop and maintain training matrices for each segment.
Manage the Competence Management System, specifying competencies for each vessel type.
Oversee training processes within the Safety Management System (SMS).
Collaborate with MQA to determine familiarization training requirements.
Ensure training provided to seafarers is relevant and addresses current challenges.
Plan and organize the annual seminar schedule.
Coordinate cadet planning.
Support the implementation of seafarer career development initiatives.
Facilitate and promote the officer-in-office program across the fleet.
Develop specific training requirements and objectives for TM, based on fleet feedback.
Ensure training requirements are met by CM and that training objectives are achieved.
Strategically map future competencies based on upcoming regulations and technological advancements.
Monitor compliance with the Competence Management System (OLP).
Maintain an overview of training budgets and ensure accountability.
Qualifications & Experiences
Degree or Maritime college certifications.
More than 5 years’ relevant experience in the shore based Maritime industry.
