Job description

Are you a passionate legal professional committed to making a difference in the lives of others through pro bono work? We invite you to join our team as a Community Law Advocate, where you will play a pivotal role in mentoring junior lawyers, supporting the community through legal assistance, and fostering a culture of integrated legal care.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Performing a dedicated mentoring and leadership role to Community Law Fellows (comprising junior lawyers) and volunteer lawyers;
  2. Advising applicants, processing applications, and taking on community law matters (e.g. family and civil personal matters) with a focus on migrant worker matters;
  3. Ensuring smooth operations of the Community Law Centre;
  4. Assisting management in deciding on whether aid should be granted to applicants for assistance;
  5. Collaborating with the social service sector to promote the practice of integrated legal care;
  6. Acting as Ambassadors to actively engage, train, and expand the volunteer pool to support pro bono work;
  7. Assisting management on various aspects of work and legal practice, including but not limited to supporting Pro Bono SG’s programmes and community outreach; and working on research issues relating to the legal profession and community law matters.

Requirements

  1. Admitted to the Singapore bar.
  2. Community law practice experience (i.e. family, syariah, probate, personal injury claims, and civil personal matters).
  3. Demonstrated passion for pro bono work.
  4. Able to lead and mentor Community Law Fellows.
  5. Able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
