The role: Commodity Manager, Data Center Infrastructure Equipment - Singapore
Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google's bottom line.
Additional Role Description:
As the APAC Commodity Manager, you will define and execute Google’s strategic sourcing of data center Infrastructure Equipment across the Power Distribution and Mechanical Cooling categories for our APAC Data Centers.
You are an innovative and accomplished expert with extensive knowledge of technology management, strategy development, sourcing, fulfillment, supplier management, and cost management. You will balance both tactical and strategic issues concurrently. You have technical knowledge, business acumen, program management fluency, as well as communication, teamwork, conflict resolution and relationship management skills. You will take a leadership role in working with peers, managers, internal stakeholders, and executives of Google and Supplier Partners.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute commodity sourcing strategies for infrastructure equipment across power distribution and mechanical cooling equipment for Data Centers across APAC region.
- Drive RFP/RFI/RFQs and leading cross-functional teams with supplier selection process.
- Define cost drivers, develop cost models, establish cost analysis, and conduct negotiations including comprehensive contractual agreements.
- Serve as internal point of contact for all ongoing remediation and quality improvement programs, define multi-year Research and Development efforts and implement supply chain and supply base improvements.
- Implement supply chain improvements - driving supply base improvement with supplier metrics and regular business reviews.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience
- 10 years of relevant experience in procurement and supply chain management
- Experience in managing industrial infrastructure equipment category
- Experience with category management, contract negotiation and supplier development.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in a technical or engineering field or MBA
- Experience with power distribution and mechanical cooling category management for data centers for APAC.
- Experience with large-scale industrial engineering and construction programs
- Experience working with contractors and General Contractors in a large infrastructure environment.
- Knowledge of international requirements, currency, tax, codes, and logistics challenges
